Transformer Christmas Guide

“Autobots roll out” would maybe be a good theme for the after Thanksgiving Day sales. The shoppers who are real people suddenly transform into laser focused robots focused on their personal deals and look out to any other “robot” that would happen to get in their way. Out come the hidden weapons of each shopper ready to aim and fire to protect their new found deals.

Well maybe that is a tad of an exaggeration but I do not think it is too far from the truth.

One of those treasures to be found this Christmas season will be the Transformer action figures. These action figures have made a surge in popularity largely due to the release of the Transformer movie last year.

The fun twist on this action packed movie is many adults watching the Transformer movie played with the action figures are young children. The Transformer line of action figures was originally released in 1983.

In case you do not have childhood memories of playing with Transformers and need some help before you go Christmas shopping, here are a few of the key characters in the Transformer line.

Optimus Prime is the leader of the Autobots which are the good robots. A true favorite and hero from the movie is Bumblebee. Bumblebee is a yellow and black Camaro that in the movie is initially a junker car until he turns into this really cool car as my nephews say. Jazz is the cool Autobot that transforms into a Pontiac Solstice and likes to dance. Ironhide transforms into a topkick pick-up truck. Ratchet features a Hummer when he transforms from a robot.

Of course if you have good robots, there are always the bad ones. Megatron is the leader of the Decepticons. One of his sidekicks is Barricade. Barricade transforms into a police car and is a liar who cannot be trusted. Starscream is a F-22 raptor jet when he is not fighting as a robot. Another Decepticon is Stockade a vengeful robot who transformer into a sleek SUV. Payload is an armored truck and Scorponok is a scorpion with animal like reactions.

There are more transformers on both sides. But this should help you with getting a bit more acquainted with Transformer characters before you buy them for a Christmas gift.

Another good point to know before you start your Christmas gift shopping for Transformers are there are two lines in the stores. The animated Transformer series and the Transformer series. The animated Transformers are for younger children. The animated series is based on the same characters but do not have the amount of detail. If you are buying for anyone over the age of five, I would suggest buying from the Transformer series not the animated series.

Have a great time doing your Christmas shopping!
